The Short Stories And Poems - 1454 Words

Since starting this course of American Literature we have cover so much material. We have read several short stories and poems. We analyzed these stories and poems. We have discussed the main points and main Components of these stories and poems. We have also learned about the authors of these stories and poems. I would like to introduce the stories we discussed and what I have learned from these stories in Exam 1. We first studied African-American folktales. Folktales are stories that have been handed down from generation to generation. The first short story we read was When Brer Deer and Brer Terrapin runned a race. This short story is an animal tale about them racing to marry the same character in the story. He was more concerned with wealth than doing the right thing and he wanted to say he know nothing of the gold to make the rightful owner look like a fool. The moral of The Man That Corrupted Hadleyburg is that vanity is a sin in itself. the people of Hadley burg wanted incoruppible, although they all had secrets, were judgmental and were only concerned with making the surrounding towns jealous. Sin and greed can corrupt the most honest people The Wonderful Tar-Baby Story I think is a short story that is telling you that you should not lose you temper and keep your cool. Losing you temper could put you in an unforseen predicament that you may not be able to get out of. The rabbit lost his temper when Tar baby would not answer him and he hit him until he was complete stuck in the tar and could not get lose. As I read How Mr. Rabbit Was Too Sharp for Mr. Fox I feel like the lesson with this story is reverse Psychology. The rabbit was caught and told the fox drown me, skin me and pretty much do what ever you want with me just do not throw me in the briar patch. When really he did not want the fox to do any of those things in reality he wanted the fox to throw him in the briar patch so he could get away and in the end that is exactly what happen. The fox threw him in the briar patch and he got and he got away.
